Information: Some information is true and some is not. Most deceit, or untruth, contains enough truth to make it believable. So having said this; the question remains. What should we believe and what should we disbelieve? The Internet is so full of information, some of it is true and good, and much of the information just isn’t true. Therefore, how can we believe any of it? If something appears to be a duck, it swims on top of the water, it has webfeet, it waddles a little when it walks and it quacks, chances are good that what you see and hear is a duck. The youngest toddler can identify a duck when given the chance. Why is it that the older we become the more proof we require to convince ourselves that it really is a duck? Could it be that we don’t want it to be a duck because we believe that it being a duck is somehow to our disadvantage, therefore we have convinced ourselves that it is a chicken. We believe it to be a chicken so strongly, and we convince all of our friends and acquaintances that it really is a chicken and not a duck. But, the truth remains and a duck is still a duck. It seems to me that whatever is true is true because it is true and it doesn’t matter how badly we want it not to be true, truth stands on its own.
We were given the gift of discernment when we were created, but somehow this ability dwindles away with maturity. For instance, preteen children can instantly smell a fake, and most times they can identify the party who just faked. We, the mature ones, are so sure of ourselves in our faking ability that we have taken it to new heights. We Americans are so good at it that we are constantly faking ourselves. We have become so accustomed to the smell of a fake that we can’t even smell a new one that comes our way. Therefore, we call a lie truth, and truth a lie. We do this most times to convince ourselves that what we want to be true is true when it really is not. We do this for a myriad of reasons. However, when we do these things they are to our disadvantage. And, that is the truth!
