Two hundred and thirty eight years ago our Founding Fathers signed one of the most important documents ever written. Only the Bible is more important than this document. The Deceleration of Independence declares that all of our rights were given to us by our Creator. Part of the second paragraph reads:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.”
All Americans should know theses words and they should understand what they mean.
If we are Christian or claim to be Christian, then shouldn’t we should understand what being free really means. The only real freedom is found through Jesus Christ. By the way, the very next sentence in the Deceleration of Independence tells us why our Government was instituted. It states;
“That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed, --That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness.”
